Deputy Chiefs Warren Driechel and Devin Laforce have been appointed by the Commission as interim Chiefs of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) to replace outgoing Chief Dale McFee, effective Feb. 21, 2025.
“The Commission received interest from two strong applicants for this role and we’ve decided to hire both as interim Chiefs of the EPS. We look forward to having Warren and Devin provide their diverse perspectives and ideas to help improve policing and public safety in our city. We hope this also creates a smooth transition for all operations and the frontline while the EPS continues to provide Edmontonians with its vital public service as we seek to hire a full-time Chief.”
Shazia Amiri, Vice Chair of the Edmonton Police Commission
The interim Chiefs will provide their diverse perspectives and ideas on a rotational basis to lead the EPS until the Commission hires a full-time Chief of Police.
The rotational nature of these secondments allow both interim Chiefs to remain in their respective roles at EPS overseeing the Community Safety and Well-Being Bureau, and the Investigation and Support Services Bureau, to provide stability during this time of change at the police service.
