EPC STATEMENT ON RECENT EVENTS SURROUNDING THE TRAGIC DEATH OF GEORGE FLOYD:

The members of the Edmonton Police Commission want to express our overwhelming concern and anguish following the tragic death of George Floyd last week in Minneapolis.

These are painful and difficult times for everyone, including the citizens of Edmonton, who share in the grief and frustration that has lead to nationwide protests in the U.S.

The Commission recognizes that racism occurs in many different forms and cannot be tolerated anywhere, including within the policing profession.

As guardians of the public trust, the Commission represents the citizens of Edmonton and will continue to work with the Edmonton Police Service to constructively support the vulnerable and marginalized communities and affirm our commitment to create an inclusive and welcoming culture within the service.

We all value the richness and diversity that make up our city and stand in solidarity with all residents against racism and hate.

We apologize but due to the current COVID virus situation the Edmonton Police Commission will be closed to the public until further notice.

If you require information or assistance please call our main line at 780-414-7510 and we can assist you over the phone.
