Edmonton Police Commission Announces the Appointment of 2 New Members:

In January 2021, the EPC will welcome its newest members appointed to the Commission by City Council, Jodi Calahoo-Stonehouse and Kemi Kufuor-Boakye.

Jodi Calahoo-Stonehouse is currently the Executive Director of the Yellowhead Indigenous Education Foundation. She also works with the Edmonton Shift Lab, a social innovation lab on anti-racism, which has drawn positive attention from across the country. She was instrumental in building strong community engagement as the consultation lead to erect the Wahkotowin Lodge, an Indigenous Legal Lodge at the University of Alberta and the first of its kind for any post-secondary institution in Canada.

Kemi Kufuor-Boakye is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a member of the Finance and Audit Committees for both the YWCA and the Canadian Research Knowledge Network. She is currently the Senior Financial Officer for the Library and Museums department of the University of Alberta and Chairs the University’s Libraries Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee. As an immigrant to the Edmonton community, Kemi has a unique and valuable understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities.

Both Jodi and Kemi bring a diverse set of skills to the Commission and will be formally introduced at the next public meeting on January 21, 2021.
